Hi guys! There's too much play (slack) on both sides in the gear lever. The change is tunnel or remote type. What can be done to improve this? Any bushing to replace?

Thanks in advance!

The nylon cup on the bottom of the gear lever and the split nylon washer on the spring are both replaceable if worn.
Make sure the pinch bolt is tight (behind the big rubber grommet) the holds the knuckle joint to the main forked shaft.
The main housing can wear where the main forked shift shaft runs, this is not bushed and a replacement housing may be required if it can't be repaired. The 'cup' in the main housing where the gear lever pivots can wear. The bolt in the side of the housing can wear - this makes the gear lever rotate slightly if twisted
Not sure there's much you can do if the cups worn except fit a KAD short shift which replaces both the gear lever and gives you a new cup that's built into the new spacer.
Is the slop definitely in the gear lever assembly? The linkage on the box is prone to wear aswell as a potential problem within the gearbox.
I notice the shift housing in your picture is an AD016 one, not a mini one, is the rubber and the bonding of sandwich plate in good condition? No idea if you can still buy the sandwich plate.
The remote shift is probably the nicest mini gear shift if you can eliminate all the potential slop.

Not really. Most of the play on those tends to be in the linkages on the box.

there is a plastic cup that the ball sits in but I can’t say I have seen a worn one.

just make sure the pinch bolts are tight every where and grease everything.

I beleive there is also a plunger/ bush thingy which wears.
They are the best shifter when in good nick, very positive gear changes.

Fantastic answers guys. Cheers Imack! The engine comes from an Austin Victoria. That remote gear in the photo is not mine, but it is similar.

The spring loaded plunger in the side of the gear lever housing is only an anti- rattle device.

The only thing I can find on the market to repair or improve the remote gear are these 2 bushings:

What do you think ?

The bronze bushes are not part of the remote housing, they are part of the linkage in the gearbox itself (diff housing)

Have you established whether your 'slop' is in the remote housing or at the gearbox or a combination of the two?

Usually, most of the wear is at the gearbox end in the ball joints and brass bushes. I've built the ball joints up with weld in the past and then ground them to shape. The external ball knuckle is available new from minispares, the 'wishbone' shaped one in the bottom of the diff housing doesn't appear to be available new, also the shfat that the wishbone pivots on wears, I made a slightly oversized shaft for my gearbox to reduce play.
The rubber bush at the lower part of the gear lever can deteriorate and make gear selection a lucky dip too.

i'm sorry imack, I can't answer you about this.
I'm going to buy this plastic bushe, hoping to improve something, but I dont't have much hope.
Thank you very much imack. Any advice more will be welcome.
