Hi All,

I have purchased the MiniSpares Lightweight flywheel. (C-AEG421) Non vertro clutch with the old starter type.
To make it more complete, I purchased the new MiniSpares pressure plate and a new clutch plate to.

Last weekend I installed it all in my car, but now the clutch is not working at all..

The clutch was working fine with my old (stock) flywheel. I did checked the movement of the clutch arm, the adjustment of the arm, and all those are in good shape.

Does anyone have experience with this problem? Or with a Lightweight flywheel?

I have that flywheel - the best mod I have made to my car, it really transformed my asthmatic old 998 - it's now on the 1293 I'm about to fit. Didn't have any problems at all fitting it - maybe start again and check your procedure?

If you press the clutch pedel all gears are grinding, and you can not get them into gear because of that.

Does the clutch pedal go to the floor with ease, or does it go hard immediately at the top pf the stroke and then not move further?

Have you adjusted the clutch since fitting it all up ?

You also need to check the assembly before fitting that it's getting the full clamping forces, often the backplate needs machining to get that right.

gear selection is OK when the engine is not running ?

..in other words, problem feels like clutch is not fully disengaging ?

Yes, the clutch arm is adjusted.

Backplace = pressure plate?

Does this mean the pressure plate from MiniSpares is not a direct fitment out of the box?

when you depress the clutch pedal, does it feel like it's working as you'd expect (i.e. compressing the diaphragm spring) or is it lighter/heavier than before ?

I found this thread on that covers how to check the Clamping Pressure and how it's adjusted;-

https://www.theminif...e-verto-clutch/

In particular, post #6.

Most of the after market backplates are supplied with slightly longer horns that usually what's needed, that way, there's material there that can be removed to adjust and set up what you have as not all clutch plates are made equal.

Have you fitted the big 'washer', the one held in place by the wire clip, the wrong way round?

Are you sure that the friction plate slides freely on the splines of the primary gear? If it is not free to move easily it can give similar symptoms.
