Hey guys

I'm putting a new boot floor in my car, and I bought these panels to go with the new valance:

https://www.minispor...t/view/id/2889/

I assumed having the additional metal around the subframe holes would be a good thing for strength and what-not, but am I mistaken?

Should I fit them as-is or modify or change for another panel?

Cheers

Alex

as standard I believe there are 3 layers of steel at that point, for strength - the boot floor, and two extra pieces one of which is a part of the valence closing panel I think

yes you definitely want the extra thickness at that point it's an important mounting point, I went way overboard and have 4mm of steel plating, also a much larger area than normal but that's to overlap the boot floor repairs I've done as well, I didn't want to run any risk  https://www.theminif...-998/?p=3731159

4mm is a great idea - I'll check your thread. I had considered bulking up the front subby mounts in the floor, too.

With the panel I orderd, I'd have the 3 layers. Wasn't sure if that was right or wrong :)

I got to that thickness with 2 x 1.5mm and the standard boot floor so in all honesty it's probably more like 3.9 or whatever but you get the idea

doing the fronts as well is fairly common yes I'll be having a look at mine as well when I get to the front

They are more than fine for what you need. Make sure there are plenty of spot welds / plug welds added when its welded to the floor.

If plug welding i use 1/4" plug welds
