I have recently upgraded all my bulbs for LED.  I only ordered 1 relay which I was going to use to replace the indicator relay when I removed the dash - I can hear it but I cannot see the relay!

However I then found out that there are actually 2 relays (thanks to this forum :-) ) - one for the indicators (under the dash) and one for the hazards (on the firewall in the engine bay).  So I replaced the 2 pin relay in the engine bay (and changed the blown fuse!) and my LED hazards work lovely.  The indicators still do work but flash a little quicker which is to be expected until I change the relay.

Anyway the question is whether the relay under the dash is also just a 2 pin unit - can anyone confirm please.   It's a 1980 Clubman GT if that makes any difference.

Thanks

Picture just for attention now I have new LED's installed and they are actually bright!

Yes it is just a 2 pin relay.

A 3 pin can be used, you just need to add an earth

It's a different sort of 2 pin flasher unit (not really a relay, but later cars do use an actual relay & a single flasher unit, so there's potential for confusion). If you just replaced the bulbs with LED versions it's likely they have built in resistors so they have the same load To work with your old style flasher. You could change the flasher unit for an electronic one that won't care about current drawn. There are 2 pin versions as well as ones with an extra pin for earth.
