a point on tesla voice commands love the butt hole one but you can tell interface is american, what happened to the good old english bottom  :D

Thankfully Tesla does recognise that we’re not all American and will accept arse, bum or bottom as an alternative to butt.

When I collected the car in August last year voice commands were virtually useless unless you could muster a semi decent American accent, then a few months later an over the air update added British English. Now it’s impressively good even following complicated nav destinations and Google searches.

I bet Tesla's struggle with a Yorkshire, Glaswegian or Geordie accent. 🤣

We used to have a touchscreen in our front room. The children would constantly touch the bottom two inches of it with their sticky fingers.
My view is if you allow touch screens and ever larger displays in cars you may as well allow mobile phones as well.Steve..

I see no issue with someone quickly touching their phone viewing messages or dialing a number while stopped (at lights, or even in really slow moving traffic I suppose.. but where do you draw the line) same goes for adjusting settings on any screen whether fixed in place or not

it's when someone tries to do it while driving along and not concentrating on what's going on in front of them, it's risking the lives of other people (and their own of course but that's a secondary consideration) And in fairness my screen (and probably all others) does say when you turn it on, do not operate when driving

the problem is you have to make one rule for everyone and it has to allow for complete morons who can't manage to drive, operate a screen, and remember to breathe in and out all at the same time without accidentally killing someone

I'm guessing that tape deck doesn't register voice commands

Or if it does you have to shout in French

MON DERRIER EST FROID!   MON DERRIER..

Voice commands may or may not work depending on how well it has been setup to understand local accents, etc BUT a touchscreen relies entirely on the eyes to use owing to the lack of any tactile feedback. Therefore you have to take your eyes off the road at some point as you do with a smart phone, which is why drivers are banned from touching phones while driving or must use hands free.

My 1961 mini has voice commands...

I tell my passenger to do something and they do it....

No voltage wasted nor amps needed....

All very well but surely the resulting slap across the face causes the eyes to wander from seeing where you are going, if not that the smarting of the eyes blurring your vision.

Very dangerous.

Definitely a case for NO hands free .   :D  :D  :D  :D

I'm sure Jim Morrison mentioned something like that!
