..I put a small blob of Mig-weld onto the end of the cable, just the last 1/4" and linished it back until it was square and the right size. That worked fine and I've had no further problem.
This was my immediate first thought but I wasn't sure what material they're made out and whether the heat would cause issues with the sleeving, glad to know I wasn't off base on that
