Leaking Manifold Gasket

Sadly I don’t get to drive my mini as much as I’d like but I have noticed over the year a niose that is getting more noticeable.
I’m fairly sure it sounds like the manifold gasket has failed. It’s sounds like it’s blowing/fast ticking sounds when under load.
It has maniflow system front 2 rear and have replaced the manifold gasket a year or 2 ago. The gasket was a genuine rover one.
I don’t think it’s misfiring or anything more lethal as the car gains and holds speed well, and doesn't over heat.
Am I barking up the right tree?

Check the thickness of both the inlet and the exhaust flanges. If they are not the same they will not seal correctly. You will need stepped washers.

if you have one of those cheap inlet/exhaust gaskets, its like double ally with a core, after a bit the inner core blows out, and it fails.

If I was to get stepped washers where would they be placed ?

I’d have thought If it was a genuine rover part it’ll be up to standard. It’s in my shopping list for replacement and I’ll get new exhaust gaskets throughout

On the manifold studs. So both manifolds get tightened correctly.

Sure it's the upper manifold, not y piece on the manifold if it's an lcb? Prone to blowing if the engine steadies have movement.
agree with this have seen it lots where people do not fit the support bracket at the bottom of the y piece, a crack on this will give the noise you describe

Try a bit of tissue paper on a pair of tweesers and waft it about the inlet/manifold are and look to see if it flaps(technical term) about if it does.. there is your fault.... at very little cost..... rather than stripping it and costing a new gasket only to find more hunting could be needed...
Some folks spray wd40 about and listen for the rev picking up but the tissue paper works better in my little head for a diagnostic frame of mind rather than spraying flammable liquid about in the hot engine...

usually spray carb cleaner much less smokey than wd40
