does anyone know if these brackets are available as a spare part, without buying the whole toe board?

as you can see mines in a bit of a state, not so much the metalwork itself but the area around and underneath needs a good stripping back to bare metal and repainting

I'm thinking about cutting off, cleaning up all round and bodywork underneath, using bolts to hold it back in the right place, and weld up again

is this likely to be risking some sort of catastrophic steering failure / alignment issue?  the bolts go through the toeboard to inside the car anyway, it's really just a spacer, right ? and you get the wheels laser aligned anyway so what's the harm

am I better off just leaving it alone and trying clean around it

I would probably just clean around that but if your really concerned you can just drill out the sport welds, remove it and then weld it back on.

As long as the U bolts for the rack go through into the toe board ok then everything will be fine.

cheers, I think (hope) the metal underneath looks fine to be honest, I don't think I'll need to cut anything from the toeboard itself, but it's handy to see pics of the underneath and back side so I've got a better idea of what I'm working with

I will probably just drill out the spot welds then and clean it all back to bare metal, paint and reinstall, maybe add a couple of tidy seam welds around the edges to make sure (my main fear really was it breaking loose and having suddenly wobbly steering at high speed)
