I replaced my headlights with Cibies many years ago but they've corroded and need replacing.  It seems Valeo bought out Cibie but Valeo don't seem to do their own version (I'm looking for the same great beam pattern as the Cibies).

  I don't really want the P700 style and I really don't want cheapo no-names.

I'm leaning toward Hellas, does anyone have an opinion on their beam pattern?

I've been using Wipac Quadoptic lenses and they've been working fine

I had Quadoptics a long time ago and didn't like the beam pattern so I think I'll have to dodge them, thanks Timmy.  Hella is still top of my list.

Sourced mine from Ebay

I use Osram Nightbreaker bulbs

If you don't care about the shape of the glass use Koito HSSB-16-12HP. For best optics on a h4 then then lens shouldn't have the same shape as old sealed beams. The Koitos are curved but nowhere near that of a sealed beam, giving best optics but not the best for looking original.

I've never come across that name, assume they're Japanese? I feel into a strange Anglo/Japanese wormhole when I searched for them! Did you get them in the UK?
And no, aesthetics don't come into it

No MOT over here Cal so that's not an issue. Got a link? I can't get past the cheapo no-names on eBay

It doesn't help, but Valeo did make them for a while - I think they stopped production a couple of years ago.

You may be lucky and find some NOS ones.

That's the conclusion I came to Graeme. Haven't been able to find them though.

I have Hella H4's in my 1964 'S' rally car with up-rated bulbs and they are fine.

I did use Autopal at one time and found them excellent, especially with 100/80W bulbs for which I up-rated the wiring.

My black Cooper has Cibie which, of course, are the best.

I can't seem to find the Autopal branded units

However these are very close in shape and appearance.

I ordered them from Amazon Japan, I am in Australia and they are actually available on Amazon here (shipped from Japan) so maybe they are available on your Amazon.

Koito were/are original equipment for many Japanese vehicles. How people buy them in the USA is to actually go into Toyota dealers, just don't use part numbers anyone in the USA lists as the beam pattern is opposite.

Hard to see, but the 4th photo looks like it says Autopal on the lens

I must have bought the last pair of Cibies a few years back.  They're the best 7" lights I've used.  Good to know that Hella do some if I need to replace them.
