I'm getting my rocker cover shot blasted next week, and just need a tiny little bit of advice...

1. How long should I leave it for, after it's stripped, before I get it painted up..? And how do I leave it, like in a sealed bag or anything?

2. I want to get it painted profesionally, so what sort of place should I take it to? Will any spray shop be able to paint it with correct paint?

3. Not sure what colour to paint i yet. My mate mentioned a paint that changes with different heat... Is this any good, or is it gay? :w00t:

what sort of cover, ally or steel?

I dont think its worth having it done pro - do it with rattle cans, should be plenty good enough.

I think it's Steel... Standard one off an A reg Metro...

I'd rather pay to get it done right to be honest... :w00t:

Personally if I was doing a steel one, I would nitromors it to strip the paint off, easily done at home. Then go and get a rattle can of primer and one of some pretty colour from halfrauds and go for it. Spray about 4 thin coats of primer on, flat it down with wet and dry, give it 3 or 4 coats of colour, flat it down again and give it one final colour coat. If you want it shiny I'd spray lacquer on it too. Much cheaper than blasting and getting it done by someone else. Have you looked at powder coating?

Getting the blasting done for free...

Nope, I'm not really up with paint and stuff, so would powder paint be a good thing to get it done in? I'd kinda like something that's not very common, like...

Oh, and I dont really have anywhere to spray it myself... The garage is full of my flatmate's rubbish, and I dont really want to do it indoors... :w00t:

fair enough. Powder coating is something that would have to be done pro. have a look in the yellow pages for somewhere near you.

Just want it to look nice and neat! :)

Doesn't look like I'll be getting it blasted any time soon! My mate's gone away for 2 weeks! :)

I'll probably just get it sprayed a normal colour and put the A+ sticker back on it... Would ideally like a brand new A+ sticker, but these seem hard to find! :w00t:

Yo,

I painted mine a few times, It's back to black now.

Just use regular car paint. It did well till i spilt breke fluid on it. Apart from that it's fine. I'm even using ultra cheap paint this time with no trouble.

I used a red oxide primer and then some cheapo spray paint.
