Out of interest, what oil do you use with a dog box, I presume some sort of motorcycle rated stuff?

In what environment?

The swiftune and KAD ones with the extra laygear bearing look good, I wonder if the extra bearing makes a difference?

Support of the Laygear in these Mini Gearbox has always been marginal, though the 3 step Layshaft did improve matters, any additional bearings are going to help here.

One up-side of going to a Dog Box is it opens the door to the use of synthetics.

The reason I asked is that with a dog box there must be some extreme pressures going on when the dogs engage which must be exaggerated by the speed that the gears are rotating, obviously in a M/C there is a reduction of around 3:1 which means even if the engine is revving to 12K the box is only at 4K plus you have an extremely fast shift cycle, but then I suppose a dog box is a race item so life expectancy isn't that important.
