Hi all,

The sunroof on my mpi let water in from the front channel or seal. There are drain holes in the front corners but these seem blocked?  Or may be actually blanked off under the headling? Tge car is a W plate car so can anyone advise if they have had this problem?  Is so how is it resolved if the drain holes Re blanked off?

Also can blanked off drain tubes be reinstated? And if so where are the tubes routed from the sunroof?

Sorry for all the questions but need to get it sorted as the car is not garaged.

Thanks in advance !

T

Front tubes go down the A pillar and out the sill, sometimes the pipe shrinks or gets blocked with gung. Bike brake cable pushed down the hole can free it, or opening up the headlining and checking but it's more delicate...
Back is almost the same.
Shrinking pipe just makes the pipe exit in the sills with whatever is in the water, not the best but not dramatic if solved qickish.
Blocked drain holes, if really done deliberately, is often that the pipe has broken or come loose and the previous owner was lazy and didn't want to fix it.

I have never seen factory fitted drain hoses, all roofs I have worked on have been blanked.  I had water getting in sometimes due to shrinkage so I fitted two hoses at the rear going down the C post and exit through a hole in the boot floor.  The unit sloops down front to back so this works best. I found water gathered at the rear and than the first time you hit the brakes it would rush forward and come down on your legs.
