Morning boys n girls. I've got a 76 clubman and I've dropped a 1275gt motor in it. how do I know what size disc brakes to put in?. over here everything has to be certified after the work is done. I much appreciate your input. thanks.

You can fit either size. Really depends on your wheel size.

the GT came with both 7.5” and 8.4” discs.

Disc brake kit for 10" wheel early 1275GT and Cooper S:-

https://www.minispar...MS.aspx|Back to

Mk3 Cooper S and 1275GT Servo Kit:-

http://www.minispare...ssic/SEN43.aspx

Or you could fit the later 8.4" discs fitted to all 12" wheel Minis (including the later 1275GT) and the servo/master cylinder for dual circuit brakes fitted from 1988/89 to 2000.

If it helps, my 74 Clubman i converted from all round drums to Cooper S 7.5" discs, Cooper S master cylinder, no servo assistance (unless you have a medical issue you really don't need it in a car that small)

Now this was with the original 998cc engine which was a peppy little unit and the car would happily stop from legal or not quite legal speed limits here. And it would pull up sharpliy.

I will have a cheeky little 1293 Seven port motor going in once its been on the engine dyno and i will run the same brakes with upgraded pads. All of this is on 10" Cooper S steel wheels. No servo.

If it needs to meet original standards they changed around '76

Pervious - 10 inch wheels, 7.5 discs, single circuit plumbing (with servo)

Post - 12 inch wheels, 8.4 discs, dual circuit brakes

Both used spacered rear drums.
