"A Mini expedition in South America @ 5,250 metres above sea level and counting...on the flanks of Ojos del Salado, the highest volcano in the world.

The thin air was really taxing the Mini now. Despite its supercharger and low gearing, pulling away at elevations of over 5,000 metres was a tricky exercise in clutch control, especially on any kind of incline, and the only way to make any upward progress was to maintain momentum. This meant driving faster than one would strictly like, while dodging the worst of the rocks and ruts that the track can offer. However, at times even this wasn’t enough to make progress...."

Wow!!

Interesting to note that the tax on that reg number expired on the 1st August 2023 so it looks as though it is still in existence but off road (SORN) no MOT. Colour is stated as yellow.

Anybody on this forum know anything more about the car or even own it.

I love this, a real once in a life time adventure ( for me anyway), I sit here smiling, thinking of the guys who were worrying about making the L2B,while this guy is half way up a mountain. This trip makes my driving into the Arctic circle jaunt seem like a drive to the shops.
