I can't find the photo I know I took of the way my ('89) interior light was wired. Am I right in thinking that the purple wire goes to the bulb cradle and black and purple/white to either side of the switch?

One supply, two paths to earth. One via the door switch, the other via the switch on the light itself.

They can be good at blowing fuses, with all that exposed, live, metal - but not as bad as the earlier one that's also screwed to the shell.
