I have also got this problem at the moment.. racking my brains why.. was going down ljnemofmthe top engine steady being to long and changing the tilt on the engine..

But now I think that poor quality may be the underlying issue here...

Why does this seam to happen all to often these days...

Or am I just getting grumpy in my old age...
More and more I would rather have old or refurbished than new and the poor quality that occasionally comes with it.....

There should be a clamp a bit further up the innermost pipe which clamps onto one of the drive shaft output cover plate bolts. That helps with initial positioning of the LCB pipes, although a bit of 'brute force' with a crow-bar can be needed to get the right final position.

With the manifold attachment nuts (or bolts, if you use bolts as I do) slightly loose, leave the mid-way clamp also a bit slack, fit the Y-piece and do up the bottom clamps tight. Use a pry bar or big screwdriver to get the clearance at the bottom, then tighten the mid-way clamp and the manifold nut (or bolts).  If it springs back when you remove the screwdriver, you may need to hammer the screwdriver back in pace and use a blowtorch to 'ease' the pipes at the bottom a small amount.

What diameter pipes are they?  they look pretty large, which won't help at all.

The OP has removed his post so you can’t see his pipes.
