Hello,

I have a 1999 mpi mini with 45000 miles. The car had sat idle for a while and as a result I couldn't get the car to start. I replaced the battery, starter motor and finally the alternator which allowed the car to start but now a new issue has arisen. The car now really struggles to start I have to hold the key in the ignition for much longer than I would like but once it gets going it runs really well. The problem remains even if the car has been driven for a while.

I have tried a different battery. I have replaced the MAP sensor, lamba sensor, plugs, oil change and crank sensor to no avail. Could the fuel pump be causing this issue?

I have attached a video of it. My dad was pressing the accelerator so the car is starting a bit easier.

Thanks

How about fuel filter, has that been replaced? I would also clean the idle air valve if the car was idle for awhile.

Injectors don't like to sit idle either, how long was it sitting?

Fuel filter was replaced. I'm not sure how long it was idle, maybe a year.

I will give the idle air valve a clean and report back.
