Sounds like a plan! The new 'Unofficial' London to Brighton Mini Run....

It could be just like the early days of the run...I remember going on the very first London to Brighton Run back in 1986, starting from Battersea Park in London and the finish was at Preston Park in Brighton. The first Run was a pretty low-key affair. The LSMOC was only a small club and there was no easy way to let people know about it with no internet and no Mini magazines and not many Mini clubs. Battersea Park and Preston Park in Brighton were booked for a nominal fee. The first Run was held up by a group of bikers protesting about being made to wear crash helmets. Once the Minis were parked up before the start, a quick count revealed there were just over 200 of them which was a good turn out compared to other Mini events at the time. There was little organised at Brighton and people just parked in Preston Park, looked around the Minis and chatted about the run.

I for one am up for this, a non commercial back to basics run sounds great.

Hopefully there’s a lawyer on here, who can advise how to do it legally without attracting unwanted attention.

Maybe we all have to hold placards, making it a legal peaceful protest for [insert comedy subject], to workaround the fact the event would be uninsured and not ticketed etc

I can't see the difference between driving to a day at the seaside, with friends, and this.

You should see how many motorbikes ride down to Hastings on Mayday.

I hope you are right, I just have a sneaking suspicion the fun police might have other ideas, as it could be seen as re-starting a previous event. But what do I know?

Let's not tell them, then. ;-)

I was there too!  Loved it.  Remember seeing Claustraphobia at Battersea, got photos somewhere.

I did the 2nd run which I think started at Clapham Common.
Picture is from Preston Park in 1988 with the cars parked between the uprooted trees of the 87 storm.
