If you're curious (and can still see to read on though the tears of laughter): The engine was built with this in mind: 1310cc with mildly raised CR and cammed for low-end torque. HIF38. 3.1 FD. Drives fine - both going and stopping.

You even forget the trailer is there... at legal speeds. At 4' it's narrower than the mirrors so you can't see it. And it only weighs 150kg.

Update: This trailer design is going open-source: The plans for this trailer will be published open-source, for all to copy and use absolutely for free. Details will (eventually) be at PhieldBug.co.uk . It'll take me a while to get a BOM and stuff ready to publish, so it won't happen immediately.

I must admit I'm very much with Clarkson on these things, but I do like these airflow types, if it were mine I'd be tempted to give it the woody treatment and paint it the same as the car.

Colour matched with a bit of wood would be awesome 👍

Thanks for the kind words :-)

I might financially stretch to colour-matching the trailer's mudguards to the car. Not that massive area of roof, though. And a set of mini wheels in OEW with identical hubcaps. But won't be adding (more) wood... lightness is everything when it comes to a teardrop (though you wouldn't know it, looking at all the 1"-plywood-covered-in-ally half-tonne homebuilds out there).

I love it, be nice to see the interior though. What is the Mini, is it a van with wood added?

Mini is a woody Traveller with GRP "van" panels sandwiched between wood and body. So it should be entirely restorable to original without welding - I'm not mad (or rich) enough to irreversibly ruin a Mk2 woody. At time of purchase I was seeking a van, but didn't see one to my taste. And then this abandoned-lockdown-project woody came up at the right price, already welded and ready to be built-up.

The trailer is a sleeping-pod. Room for an almost-double mattress on the floor, some shelves above, LED lights and USB power sockets. Think "2-man-tent" but without the cold floor, the incessant damp, and all the grief of pitching before you can get a brew on. See http://phieldbug.co.uk/gallery/ for pictures.

What a vantastic concept. ;-)
Not mad for doing the van and camper.
Whether madness shows for other things I could not comment.

That will be copied again and again because it's a great design. Well done! And yes to mini wheels and painted mud guards only

Got around to giving it green mudguards/chassis, and a shorter drawbar. With Mini wheels on it now, only one spare is needed.

The design is now fully open-source, including the comprehensive pictorial build-manual. Copy the whole thing for free, or use it for inspiration. Just google PhieldBug.

Be careful.  With that aerofoil shape, at motorway speeds, it might take-off.
