Hi, I'm a new boy and am looking at a 2001 mini 7 that is for sale. I'm confused. It has steel wheels with hub caps, mk 1 rear lights and the old type overriders and no plastic wheel arch extenders. Not the spec I would expect to see. Surely, pepperpot wheels, arches and Mk 3 rear lights should be present.

What are your views on this,I don't want to buy something that isn't correct.

Looking forward to joining the mini owners again.

Like many Minis it has probably been modified by a previous owner, it used to be quite rare to find a totally unmodified Mini and it is only in recent years that factory standard Minis have become popular amongst classic car buyers. The 'retro' look is also quite popular and usually means a later Mini has 10" wheels, Mk1 rear lights, overiders, Mk1 grille and no late type plastic arch extensions or if they are needed more 'in-period' arch extensions are fitted.

So it depends what you are looking for? A totally standard factory spec Mini or a modified Mini...
