Obviously presumably some loose / poor connection but today the wipers stopped working with the engine running. With just the ignition on they're fine but with the engine running they don't work

I fiddled about with the fuses and wiring but nothing seemed broken

Everything else seems to be working

Loose contact in the switch, possibly?

Yeah it just seems odd that they work fine until the engine is on. But i agree it seems like a loose connection. I'm just wondering what difference it makes to these electrical systems when the engine is on as opposed to just the ignition

Try them with the ign switch in various positions rather than with engine running to prove switch. Then it may be a case of testing voltages at points in the wiper wiring to eliminate /prove.
If it is not just a vibration/ loose connection issue then the alternator may be at fault.
Does it have relays for them ie spi / mpi?

Fuse 5and 6 relates to wipers.

Check the connections are not corroded all up.

This is usually the issue. Back of the fusebox usually has some rust on connections.(heater blower /washer pump on same fuse) The engine running vibrations break the connection could be a case of new fuse box. Or just a tighten of a crimp connection..

Would also say that the block into the wiper suffers the same issue..

Remove both and check the continuity.

Just to make it more complicated. I trust you have checked the splines on the wipermarm mounts. These can wear and
the splines come off. Giving smooth mounting points. But unlikely since they work when not running.
