Mark where the two pieces fit and paint all the rest of the bare metal before assembling with some "Copaslip" between the two pieces.

have you got the tie rod tightened up? Better to leave it pretty much as loose as possible then fit it to the bottom arm (more easily), then tighten the tie rod last

Nothing is tightened up yet. Was worry I might have fitted something wrong as the lower arm is further forward than standard.

It may just be that the new bushes are putting the arms at different resting angles and they just need a bit of a push to get to the 'right' angle .. which will change anyway the minute you do the proper alignment
Standard measurements are probably a bit arbitrary anyway in fairness although I can see the point of getting it somewhere near roughly the right place to start with (or at least the same on both sides)

If nothing is tightened the tie bar is too far back as the front bushes are not compressed either side of the subframe front mountings.

Because you have the offset bushes the end of the arm in the photo will be forward compared to where it would normally be. Since you have fitted offset bushes it should be because you are intending to increase the caster. If that is the case then the tie bar should be shortened. If you are keeping roughly the factory geometry then you would probably be better with standard bushes or even putting both bushes the same way.
