I got my first mini in 1977. It was a 1972 minivan. I still have it and I am now putting it back together after some serious metalwork. Years ago I bought a mini saloon which was low mileage very rusty and pretty cheap. I put the 1000 cc engine and remote gear selector in the minivan and sold the worn out 850 cc engine and lots of the parts from the car. Doors, seats, boot lid, bonnet etc all went. I cut the roof off and the car body into four. The bits went to the tip in the back of the minivan.
About 10 years ago I sold my 1964 Cooper S. It was in poor shape - I bought it from a friend for £350. My minivan might be worth a few grand today - I wonder how much that Cooper S is worth now!
