Hi, just changed the wiper motor park switch on my 2 speed mpi wipers ( they were running all the time) now fine but I have a reduced wiping arc, they park in the correct position but don’t sweep as far as they did before, I did remove the cover on the mechanism to check it had grease but didn’t remove any thing and didn’t run the motor when not fully installed in car, could I have somehow accidentally moved the arm on the big gear wheel etc

Can't see how. There are universal motors, with more than one hole in the plastic gear wheel for the crank arm for different applications.

 

The park switch stops the motor better, but shouldn't affect the sweep while it's running.

only a suggestion. is the pin that is on the gear wheel that the connecting rod attaches to, adjustable?

 

i.e. can you move the pin closer to the outer circumference of the gear? this would give more travel for the wipers.

You might find that the arc now is correct, even though the arc is smaller than before ... in my experience the arc gets wider and wider as things get worn ... most noticeable either by the wipers going below the windscreen bottom, or past the drivers side screen rubber - or both!

Run the wipers while looking under the bonnet. BE CAREFUL that you wiper arms do not hit your bonnet while running and open though. All good? Now, run your wipers and see if you can see any binding or flexing of the unit. Assume you pulled the motor (don't think one could get to the park switch without)? You may have reinstalled slightly out of alignment and that last bit of arc is being wasted in binding and flexing.

It should not be possible as its a mechanical link. If you pour water over tye screen and run them, you'll see the full arc.
