Hi guys, I,ve got 1990 JDM mini, I,m curious as to what the spare black and white wire is for(coming from front loom top of grill near to alternator) see photos. I was thinking it might possibly be for an auxillary wire for a tacho, mine is the two clock binnacle (no tacho). Any info would be gratefully appreciated, thanks.

That's correct, it would be connected to the coil negative and the other end to the tacho in a three clock binnacle.

As it is near the alternator I would suggest another possibility if your engine is 998.   A 1990  998 would have points and this wire would normally be connected to the dizzy  unless somebody has added electronic ignition which is connected directly to the coil. If so you should find a connector at the coil with two white/black wires one of which is the other end of this wire and the other the wire to the tacho.
