Hi All. I have just bought a 1979 mini van. It has a number stamped on the lower dash rail above the switches which reads TP F28 R26. As anyone got any idea what it could be please. I thought it might have been a military van as it was manufactured in 1979 but was not registered for the road until 1985 on the log book. However there is no ERM number. I would like to research its history but not sure were to start.

Hi KTS. Thanks. That makes sense. I have not seen this in a van before. I wonder why it was added on the dash rail.

Perhaps because van drivers aren't renowned as rocket scientists on a gap year.

My guess would be it's old style (embossed) dymo tape that a previous owner has stuck there as a reminder, and it's just been oversprayed

if you peel it off, i imagine you'll find the previous (original?) colour of the car underneath

The van will have been a company/service van. Like you often see the pressures on the arches of vans.

It does look like a military affectation and the paint colour is about right too. More so if it's stamped aluminium.

Its a bit of a claytons reminder. New driver gets in and thunks
"What the frak does TP mean?"

If it wasn't registered for six years then it might have been used off road at an airport or inside a large factory site. A place near me apparently used a mini pickup as a fire tender as it could drive between the machinery

Thanks Guys.

I have now tracked another plate on the top dash rail showing a "Contract No." and "Warrant No."

I am going to try and run this through an RLC digital archive search and see if it brings anything up.

Thanks for all your comments
