I am trying to connect to the diagnostic port of a 97 Japanese mini using the Rover MEMS app.  It will not connect.  I have looked at the wiring diagrams in Haynes and it would appear from the colour of the wires that the wiring relates to a pre Oct 96 fuel injected model with the wire colours at the port being Pink/Black, White/Yellow and Black/Green.   I believe that the White/Yellow carries the data from the ECU and the other two are live and ground.  Is this correct?  When I test the pins with a volt meter, none of them are live.  I have checked all the usual, fuses, connections etc.  Should the Pink/Black be live?  or do I need to connect to separate Live and ground externally.  I would be most grateful if someone could help.

I had no end of grief trying to connect to my Japanese 94 with Windows 10. Can't say I ever looked at wiring. I eventually found some drivers online which would work once or twice, then I would have to uninstall the COM port and mess around from the start again.  Eventually bought an android tablet so I could try that route,  somewhat more successful,  but doesn't have the same graphical interface.

Sorry,  not exactly helpful,  just feeling your pain.

Am I right to assume the '97 Jap mini changed to the OBD2 connector and not the 3 pin pre '96 connector.  On the ARC4 SPi lead (3 pin) there is an extra lead with a crocodile clip to connect to a positive on the car which would suggest that none on the three are positive but one is negative. I bought my MEMS lead from somebody on here and if I remember correctly it doesn't have the positive connection.

Not sure but mine has the old school 3 pin connector under the bonnet.  The connector lead I purchased does not have the extra lead to connect to +ve.
