I have a 1989 mini and have bought Tex stainless steel mirrors and an adaptor kit that means I don't need to drill more holes in the doors and keeps it reversible.

How in earth does this kit work?? The countersunk holes in the aluminium plate match the originals, and the smaller holes match those on the black plastic plinth. However I would be screwing into the aluminium back panel at an angle and I don't think the shorter screws would be long enough. I just cNt picture how it's supposed to fit.

Can't imagine this would have any strength whatsoever, has anyone actually fitted these that could explain how they work or am I just going to have to drill more holes and accept I can't put it back to original. Never thought door mirrors would be confusing!!!

Bolt it to the door. Bolt the fitting wedge sandwiching the base to the part now on the door. Fit mirror.
