Hello all, i come with a problem similar to: https://www.theminif...pped/?hl=tappet

I am on the tail end of a grueling headgasket replacement on a 1275, and have broken the head of one of the tappet screws.
It refused to move up or down and broke my screwdriver, so I went at it with a rachet with a screwdriver bit attached, which seems to have been a step too far:


I understand that this screw is likely unsavable and will need replacing,
My questions:
Is it worth attempting to replace this screw in situ or is it easier remove the rockers?
Which tools techniques should i invest in to remove it?
Is THIS the right screw to replace with
The other 7 screws are just as tight and at risk of damage too, is there any advice on loosening them? (I have used WD40 to no luck)

Any other notes of wisdom appreciated, just trying to learn the ins and outs.

There were several different rockers fitted over the time of production, and there were several different screws. Can you post up a pic of what you have so we can suggest some ways forward ?

It sounds as though you need to bite the bullet and buy a new shaft and rockers

Leave the rockers soaked in diesel for a week. See if it frees things off.

Have you tried alittle heat on the nut?

Ordered a new one on ebay, for about the same cost as extraction equipment would have been

Just as a final update, New (used) Rocker installed cost £14, problem solved
