Hi all, my high low beam just flops in to high beam. I’ve had a look and the plastic clip just seems to have lost its stiffness.

Is it a whole new stalk that’s needed or anyone know if just the clip can be replaced?

I guess it's just reached the end of its fatigue cycles, pretty impressive if it's original. I suppose you could try to give it some external assistance (laggy band?), but it could be time to replace it - bet it doesn't last as long, unless you can find a new old stock gem.

There's a NOS one on ebay at the moment.

So update. I bought a new old stock Lucas stalk and harness. Happy days. Question I have now though is about the connector block. I haven’t had a good look but where about is it on the mk2?

the wire doesn’t look very long so kind if wondering if I need to cut and strip then solder them in.

All the wiring, including the connector, should be hidden inside your plastic steering column cowl. Should be no need to lengthen any wiring.

It looks like some punters are flogging them without the connector housings. Possibly not actually NOS, or for a different model. If it has the same metal connectors you should be able to free the housing from the old switch's wiring with a small instrument screwdriver inserted to hold down the retaining tang.

Great news. Stalk changed. 10 minute job. All working like new. Made up
