Hi all

So after the mrs took the wrong set of keys to work the other day (the set with my only ones for the mini on it!) resulting in my spontanious work from home day (still giving her a bit of grief about this which is good fun!) I am looking into getting a spare igniton key and fob.

Blank ignition keys seem cheap/easy enough and guess someone like Timpsons can cut these?

Has anyone had any experience with the remote "learning" fobs. Ive seen mention of them but nobody mentioning trying with sucess.

Ive seen there is a site that for £70ish plus £30 deposit for the coder you can do it. But just thinking as its only a spare the learning one may be the cheaper option for the hopefully rare emergency occasion(s). If not i'll go with the £70 option and report back.

Thanks for any help.

Ps car is 2000 MPI cooper sport

He'll need access to the car to get the code for the fob.

He can also set which options you want on the alarm/immobiliser.

I will be forever grateful to him for turning off the damn automatic re-arm function.

I grew tired of it trying to kill me when I was picking up the Mrs.
