Hi all, just purchased myself a 1998 Sportspack mini and love it! As a tall and larger person I fit in Ok but just wondered about a few mods if possible. I have the seat extension and looking into removing the bin behind the door to further extend, but was wondering whether a KAD "Quickshift" gearlever would actually be a physically shorter stick than the stock one as currently in 3rd gear espeically it's a tad uncomfortable poking into my leg. Likewise is there such thing as a shorter indicator stalk? If anyone has done changes to their mini to allow a bit more comfort to us larger people would love to hear, thank you!

The stick's identical, it just moves less.

No it is the same length. And will not move as far towards you.
it ain’t a Quickshift but a short shift.
get a speedwell extension for your gear stick. No shorter control stalks either.

What I found from my plastic car,
You can move the stick back most effectively by lengthening the rods between the selector & gearbox. I stole mine from a Metro, but you could cut & add a section. I had to cut the hole through the floor anyway, you might have to modify yours. Beware of getting too close to the handbrake. I managed to move that too by adding a spacer to the rear of the front cable to shorten its effective length.
You can bend the gearstick with the aid of some heat. That can move the business end backwards, but it'll no longer be so perpendicular to the linkage. The gear knob will higher in the odd gears and travel farther fore & aft.

Change the seats. What you need is to move the gear stick closer to the handbrake (?).... What I would do is use either a metro rod change or just cut and sleeve the current ones you have.
Personally if I was to cut and sleeve the rods, I'd weld them and also drill them and roll pin them, so that if the weld fails you can get the car home.
Just my thoughts on your predicament
