Hi I have a 1972 mk3 998 Mini Sedan.
Made in South Africa.
I have had the head skimmed and refurbished with hardened valves etc.
Push rod no 5..sits a lot more proud than all the others, kept them all in number order. Engine turns freely by hand.
Any advice would be much appreciated....this has got me scratching my head!!!!

I'd say when you removed the push rods, a lifter came up with it and has dislodged it.

If you remove the side plates on the back of the block, you'll see it sitting in there on it's side. it's just a matter of slipping it back in.
