Has anyone done it? I mean beyond a stage 1 kit. My mini auto 1000 gearbox has died and I'm on the look out for a new one, however I'm would love to up the power on one. I know mini autos are not exactly common but wondered if anyone had modified one. If so,what did you do? And was it a success?

The 'Automatic Mini Register' also has a small section on Performance Tuning for auto Minis:-

You might also try to search for a complete 1275 Automatic unit from a Metro or late Rover Mini....

I'm told not to fit a larger exhaust. Whatever you do needs to retain power at low rpms.

I would be fixing your transmission instead of replacing it. If you replace it then you'll likely have issues again soon. They really aren't that hard to repair, anyone who says otherwise doesn't know what they are talking about.

My hope is to get a bigger unit and spend some time stripping the old unit down. I suspect it didn't like being woken up after 20 years resting.
