Hi,

Sorry, I know this has been confirmed as 'dooable' in a previous thread, but I can't find it for looking.

I am looking to fit a matching 'Aston' style dummy chrome fuel cap on the RHS of my Mini with a pipe to the washer bottle.

I have recently fitted a boot liner kit, which immediately poses the problem of providing easy access to the washer bottle mounted on the rear of the back right wheel arch in the boot of my MPi.

Obviously, sourcing a dummy neck and chrome fuel cap are straightforward, but I don't know how to connect these via a pipe(?), whilst maintaining pressure for the washers.

It seems like a nice solution to me, so hats off to those who have implemented it.

Any help gratefully received

Thanks

Why  O_O

It's not pressurised, the pump does that when you press the stalk. The actual problem, apart from making a hole in yer bodywork, will be stopping it piddling water when it's filled above the top of the bottle.

Easier to cut a big enough hole in the boot liner above the bottle and cover it with something dazzling, like a grille of some description or a bit of fake carbon fibre on velcro, magnets, huge bonnet pins....

Or you could get a bag reservoir & screw it arse about face to the liner wiv a 'ole to poke the filler through.

Thanks for replying.

The point about the tank not being pressurised is well noted.

I was hoping for a watertight hose arrangement to fit both the neck pipe and the bottle, but I guess that was being a little optomistic.

The twin fuel caps may be worth doing as it is - it's a great look!

Fair do's.

I get the washer filler would give it a bit of a purpose, but it would also require a bigger hole should you ever want to revert.

You could look on ebay for washer bottles of the long spindly neck variety found on today's soulless models. Maybe some overflow / washing machine drainpipe hardware could be misappropriated too, but making a reliable seal with the original bottle lid (silicone?) will likely be a challenge.

Thanks Ethel, food for thought.

P.S. Filled the car today for the first time since fitting the 'Aston' cap.

A really nice, pleasing experience - it made all the difficulties fitting it, with a full tank (difficult) seem like distant memories.
