Mk2 Dashboard Query

Best Answer mab01uk , 25 June 2024 - 10:20 PM

If you can find an early Riley Elf factory fitted dashboard they also did not have the eyeball air vents fitted until later, although the 2 small gauges were positioned differently to the aftermarket Rokee Mk2/Mk3 dashboard which fits over the existing Mini Mk2/3 centre speedo binacle assembly with no modifications to the standard Mini dash layout.

Afternoon all, Having got my 1969 Mark 2 home I now have a list as long as your arms building up of things I want to do!

The first problem to resolve is the dashboard which is a centre console wooden affair, fitted, in the dark, down a pit, at night by a previous owner.

Having removed it as it was so noisy and ill fitting I needed ear defenders to drive the car I then found that the centre binnacle has been hacked etc etc etc .... All ok .. I can repair all of the bodges easily enough but the dashboard is a conundrum. I'd like to put a wooden dash back in but all I can find are ones with air vents on either side and my card doesn't have air vents. Does anyone know of a wooden dash supplier who makes dashes to fit MK2's without air vents? I've been searching for a while without much joy. I know any 3 part dashes will fit the car but they all have the air vent cut outs .. It seems daft to put blank vents in or speakers (there isn't a radio in the car either) to resolve the problem. Any ideas?

You need to find an original Rokee Dash for a Mk2 Mini (see link below) which was also fitted early and basic Mk3 Minis from 1970 which did not have the eyeball air vents option fitted.
