Hi All,

I've just bought myself my 3rd mini after a 25 year break. It's been restored in the past and the original VIN plate was lost, and the car is now registered as a 1973. The only original identification I know of is a body number on the bonnet slam panel which is A06XXXX (the last few digits are painted over and illegible). From what I've read, this is the body number, but isn't related to the VIN , Can someone confirm? I don't have the car in my possession yet, but can scrape the paint off the plate when I get it and figure out the last few digits if it helps understand the car's history. The floors have been replaced, but is there anywhere else I could look to find identifying numbers or marks?

Thanks

If you know the Minis registration number (if a UK registered Mini?) that can be used to find the VIN/Chassis number on some 'Vehicle Check' websites used by the motor trade.

Some useful info for you in the threads linked below.

First off 73 would not have a VIN it would have been a chassis plate.

depending on what paperwork you get it may be recorded on that, it would be on the UK issued V5/V5c

tieing up the other numbers FE/Body etc is more problematic.
