Hi all, I,ve got a 1990 Jap spec mini with a Nippon Seiki 2 clock binnacle and I,m considering installing a Smiths analogue temperature gauge and fuel gauge , Is it much of a job to swap over gauges from one make to another? Any advice greatly appreciated.

That depends on your skill level in all honesty. What’s easy for you may be hard for me etc but, I will say that most gauges have a power, ground, and signal of some sort. Should be pretty easy to use a multi meter to test which is which and then label them. Use a camera too incase you run into issues and have to put the Nippon back in.

I think you can do it!

What I,m really unsure about is if there is a voltage regulator fitted to Nippon Seiki instrument cluster,if so where is it situated, is it behind the printed circuit? I,ve read that Smiths water temp and fuel gauges require 10 volts otherwise you get an incorrect reading so does that mean I need to add one of those?

Yes they do have one, tucked in with the gauges. It's not external like the Smiths one is.
