Afternoon all

Looking for a front pair of tyres for my MPI, 175/50/R13. There seems to be a very limited choice, the only choice being Yokohama A539 which range from £115-120ish depending on where they can be found.

I seem to thik when i looked a couple of years ago there were more and cheaper decent options around but maybe this is just my memory. What do people run and where do they get them from? Ideally somewhere i can get the alignment done at the same time.

Thanks in advance

John

Edit: sorry, found the Nankang AS-1 ones in a few places including Mini Sport but i've know people have trouble finding places that fit tyres without supplying them themselves,

I only solely use A539. Yes they're on the dear side, but great tyres.

Mini Spares have the A539 listed at £95 inc vat, and there is a very good tire fitter not far from them in Potters Bar  (1.7 miles) that will happily fit tires you supply, as he did my mini tires last year, and just today moved them onto refinished rims, C&D tires Potters Bar. Hope that helps

Thanks for the replies chaps, was keen to keep with the Nankang AS1 as have they've been decent (daily driving the mini for last 2 years and tread is still good, have just worn on the inside due to alignment) and i have them on the rear too. Ive got them from here (link below) for £47 each and found local mobile tyre fitter who will fit both fot £50 all in, seems decent to me.

Have you tried black circles for tyres? You can get them shipped to your address and work the deal with the tyre fitter (usually cheaper than what black circles quote 😉)

Yeah I tried all the usual suspects that I would usually use, blackcircles, national, ATS, Asda etc

Blackcircles are my usual first port of call but they and a few others list the tyre size totally wrong by registration, comes up as 165/60/R12 instead of 175/50/R13, luckily noticed that in time. A few of them, including blackcircles have the correct size Yokohama A539 ones at between £115-120 but that just seems a bit steep to me.

£101.44 each mail order on black circles, then work out the deal with your fitter, I usually take the wheels off the car for my local guy, I get them for £7.50 a tyre, (Inc new valve and balance).

Try the Nankang AS1
