Good Morning,

I hope all are happy and well!

I just joined the forum this morning.

This is my first post on the forum. I've wanted a mini since seeing the Italian Job as a kid in the 80s. I finally got one. It's nothing special like a Mk1 or 2. It's special to me! It's a 1994 Japanese Cooper auto 1.3i/1275. I went for a Japanese import because I wanted a 90s Cooper with an auto box (I'm restricted to auto/semi due to a gimp leg) and the shell is like brand new. I'M wanting to do a retro mod. I'm hoping that you guys & gals, will be able to help/advise/ educate me.

Monday morning AGAIN!

Kind Regards

CLUE

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

You will get plenty of excellent advice on here and useful tips.

May I suggest that if you are going to be raiding the Piggy Bank for parts that you join the Forum as a TMF+ member for the very high price of £5 pa  :D.

Once you register your membership with Minispares you will get a 71/2% discount on all orders.

Paddy

Hi, I'm trying to fit a mk1 grill surround to a 1994 mini. It doesn't sit flush. Do you need spacers or do you need to bend the grill surround. I have same issue with mk1 Austin Cooper both are repop parts.

Any advice much appreciated. If I should post these type of questions to another section of the forum. Please advise I'm new to using forums.

Should I use some sort of rubber and make a mount? Thanks.

Hi,

I don't know the answer to your question, although I thought they should go straight on without to much trouble other than removing the lip on the bonnet.

You are better to post in the technical section to get an answer.

You can also search the forum but the best way is to use google search and type something like "mk1 grill on later mini site: www.theminiforum.co.uk" in to the search bar. The search function on the forum is not so good.

Hey Paddy, is that true? How would I go about doing this? And are there any other benefits to joining. I could have saved a fortune so far with this🤣

The 1994 has a lip that is on the bonnet that will need removed for a mk1 grill style to fit...

Usually when the chrome bit come off, then the spot welds drilled out the bonnet it is scratched on the paint...

Hi Rubbershorts (aka Tena Lady?  :D  :D ) as far as I know there are no other benefits but someone else could be more informative on this.

To become a TMF+ member click on subscriptions in the blue line at the top below the title The Mini Forum and follow the instructions.

Once you have your membership number you need to send a personal message via the forum to [email protected]. Give him your details and membership number and ask him to register you for the 71/2% discount.

To send a PM you click on Rubbershorts at the top right of the page once you have logged in and slide down to Personal Messenger and click on that to open it.
