Faulty stabiliser replaced, fuel gauge working perfectly. Temperature gauge replaced

 

but rises to hot when switched on with cold engine. Minispares GTR104 sender. Any 

 

observations ?  Please.

What does the gauge do when you disconnect the wire from the sender ?

Just noticed an error in my post! The temp. sender replaced NOT the gauge. OOPS!

It sounds like a short to me.
Disconnect the feed and see if the fault persists.

Have discovered a short within 150mm of the gauge. AAAAGH!!!

 

Dashboard dismantle. Thanks for the tips.
