Hello

I've bought 4x GSV1118 knuckle joint set months ago, now I started assembly the suspension parts. I see some manufacturing "traces" on the balls.

I don't think it is acceptable. I am right ?

There are a lot of poor quality knuckle joints on sale.

Minispares say their EVO knuckle joint below is UK made and to the original factory quality.

Not sure why Minispares still sell the poor quality knuckle joint based on your photos....but I would hope they will exchange those for the better quality EVO type if you agree to pay the small extra cost of a set.

If they were ball joints I may be concerned, but knuckle joints I would not be worried. They fit in a plastic cup and do not have massive movement.I might be easily pleased though.Steve..

Those new ones you have do appear quite sub-standard. While dearer, I have tried to buy genuine items as I found the boot would stay put so much better than those fitted to the after market types and even if displaced, they would still largely cover the cup well. When doing refurbishments, If the ball and boots are good, rather than replace the whole joint, I'll replace just the cup, which by the way, the originals were a moly impregnated nylon.

Are these balls hardened?

The originals were in an EN8D Grade Steel and Hardened to 52 Rc. The original Ball End had a ground finish.

Run a file over them and you will find out soon enough :)

I wouldn`t use them regardless as I hate doing a job twice.
