Spot Lights - Mpi Sportspack

Best Answer viz139 , 12 October 2024 - 09:53 PM

Yes spots in the middle and fogs on the outside.

Spots are switched on with the main beam via a relay.

Front and rear fogs are switched separately, I don't know if this is a legal requirement but all my modern cars are switched this way.

Hello

I am restoring a Sportspack MPI.

I have a few questions I hope you can help me with.

How are the four lights arranged in front: two spots in  the middle with two fogs on either side?

How and where are the switches for the lights configured?

Is there a separate switch on the dashboard?

Can the two front fog lights and the one rear fog light be combined into a single switch on the centre switch panel that has the five switches? I am aware of the different relays the front and rear lights use. But is this possible at all, even with changing/altering relays? Has anyone done this?

Thank you

Hirantha

For UK its a legal requirement for fogs to come on separately.

Fog lights won't give you anymore required light in the clear dark as the bulb holders cap the upper part of the bulb inside the bowl. This is so they concentrate the light downwards.

Thank you...

I will leave them as is; separate front and back.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this? I have a 2000 Cooper Sport and the 2 middle spots come on when the front fog switch is on and the 2 outer spots do not come on at all regardless of main beam or dipped beam.

Looks like I need to change the outer spots to come on with the front fog switch and the middle to come on when main beam is on. As well as investigating why current outer spots are not working at all.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Now solved! Cleaned the relay terminals and now the outer 2 work on main beam.
