I'm ready to fit my rebuilt powertrain back in but two of my pot joints are too tight? A brand new one I have fits in just fine on one side, but my other lightly used one was tight enough to not be able to turn, I tried my other older used one and its too tight once installed to turn as well! There were two older ones in it during transport (keep the oil in, just the pot, no innards) back from where I built it at, they can go in just fine but I don't think I can swap the other half from one of mine into those?

The two that are too tight were in before the rebuild but those diff covers/bushings were totally worn out.

I've found many of the new Pot Joints about 0.001 oversize and usually out of round.

Anything I can do short of getting it machined? Can I use the cage etc from mine in the pot that does fit?

I grind them back to size and make them round.

I think some people have reamed or machined the bushes oversize.

Just to cover it off, new, unfitted bushes are undersize by about 0.010" and need to be sized after fitting. Generally, if you buy reconditioned covers. that have new bushes, they will already be sized.
