Hi All,
Though I would point this out in case anyone wondered what the strange noise coming from the back of their car is !
If you fit these size tyres onto the standard rover minilite type wheels, it is likely that you will get sufficient tyre flex under 'reasonably' (ok it was quite hard!) fast/sharp cornering you will get sufficient side wall flex for the back tyres to rub against the dampers. It makes a very disconcerting (pant browning) noise that sounds like the back of the car is going to fall off !
I have Falkens on so cant comment on Yokos or other brands.
As far as I know there are standard (unspacered) drums on the back.
Fitting spacers/spacered drums should solve this but I havent got around to that yet, just have to go a bit slower until I do !

are you running drums or discs?
if you have discs up front, you probally have spacered rear drums as standard.

Discs
If they are spacered, then it isnt enough ! The wheels seem to sit quite far in at the back though so maybe someone has replaced them with none spacered drums at some point.

yep most places recomand you fit a small spacer on the back
this is what i did with mine when i fitted 165 tyres on my 4.5 rims
the tyres, spacers and longer studs used to come in a kit

I do 165 on 4.5 wheels. (Don't recommend it for handling tho'). You need 5mm spacers and you still may get slight rubbing when you corner hard enough to lose oil pressure. Don't worry tho, it will cause far less harm to your tyres than the oil pressure loss will on your engine ;?)

I had 165/60/12 on the cooper wheels for 3 years and never had any problems but I do have a 1/2 spacer on non spacered drums.
