I've recently purchased the above gun as it came recommended, and has a few features one of which is the dialable advance. When I use the advance feature the two marks on the timing casing and the pulley appear periodically in two areas. There is a predominant mark that appears 60/70% of the time in one area, then a secondary one that flicks on and off above it. I suspect, from what adjustments I've made so far, that this secondary one is the correct one. I asked AC Dodd the question on his latest live YouTube event and the advice was to check for wear on the distributor shaft. I've not done this yet.I used it again today as I was also given some adjustment advice and I've found that if I don't use the advance feature (leave it on zero and use the position on the teeth to to plot the advance) the mark stays absolutely static, and advances smoothly when I turn the loosened dizzy.
I made an attempt to film the results, but as it's flashing my crap phone struggles to film it properly.
Has anyone any experience of this piece of equipment? Or something similar that is showing similar oddities, if they are odd?
Cheers guys, Daz.

It will be due to the inconsistency caused by play in one or more parts. The timing light needs to calculate when to flash but because the engine rpm is always changing slightly and the timing varying a bit it could cause the flashes to appear at different times.
Check for wear in the distributor, timing chain and sprockets.
If all of those are good, you can ignore the odd flashes.
I've not noticed any measurement difference between the Innova and the timing light on my big expensive machine.

Make sure your distributor cap is clean and not cracked or better yet, replace it.
There could be some tracking that's occurring in or on your cap that is causing this.
