Quick easy question for anyone tinkering around in their boot over the next week or so..

when I fit my battery cable I don't have anything at each end to check where it will connect to and I only want to fit it once not fiddle around with it later trying to get extra length at either end

can someone tell me how much I need at the battery end please as it's probably the easiest to measure

I just left more out either end and trimmed/terminated each end once everything was ready to be hooked up.

Remember it runs in the channel, but doesn't go between boot floor and subframe, it needs to be on the underside of the subframe then you can take it up to the battery box area to avoid it getting pinched and shorting out.

Trouble is I've got one which is pre-terminated at both ends and I don't really want to have to mess about with it, I have to run the engine end down through the boot floor, then along the channel, and I want to do that before fitting the subframe really

I did think it went above the subframe though is that really not right?

I suppose I could just leave it till later and fit it while laying under the car

I'll definitely do the brake and fuel lines now while it's up on its side so it's really easy to get nice fitting bends

I'll try and nip down the shed tonight and measure it if no one gets back to you in the meantime!

Hi Stuart, measured it up and you'll need to leave yourself 85cm from the start of the cable channel to the terminal attached to the battery, a neat fit with no excess on top side, slight amount available underneath as shown in picture...

You'd think I'd clean the underside of that!

If you follow Smugwood mini on YouTube, on his latest video you'll see his battery cable routed the same as mine above
