Hi all,

Has anybody ever had any success fabricating or fitting a slip ring (or similar) setup to wire a steering wheel horn push to a pre-MPi Mini?

I’ve been trawling through old forum posts but to no avail other than knowing the Mk1 steering column had a slip ring for a horn push.

Thanks

Anything is possible....

Just depends how much time you have...

Occasionally makes a difference if you have enough money to invest......

Might be worth you asking on the Mk1 Forum.

Also these threads linked below from a quick search on the Mk1 Forum might help.

On the back-burner for me presently, but I do have it on my list to make a slip ring assy for the later column.

ebay item 296477097326 ? (edit: It's a wireless 433MHz remote horn button. Costs a tenner, including the relay. Shouldn't be rocket-engineering to fettle it to fit under the wheel boss.)

The parts for the MKI won't fit as the later columns are smaller in diameter.

Ooo that’s a really interesting idea that I wasn’t even aware existed. It looks like there’s a few companies in the UK offering a similar thing, so I’ll do some digging and if I end up with a good solution then I’ll put a post about it together.

Thanks alpder!
