hi. i'm currently in the process of fitting new knuckle joints and rubber cones and i'm at the point of needing to remove the old knuckle joints from the trumpets. I tried removing them using heat, brute force and hitting them but they are well and truly stuck!
what is the best way to try and get them out?

Yup, that's how to do it.... just be careful you don't crack/break the cone, and dont be afraid to give it a good smack with a hammer

Try spraying 'plus gas' down the cone

I still have an old trumpet wedged firm in a drain hole in the wall outside my house where we tried to remove a knuckle.

haha sounds like you've had fun with that one fun. I cracked the left hand side trumpet hitting the cone out so i've bought some pattern hi/lo's now and new knuckle joint all round as it wasn't much more expensive than 2 new trumpets. so its sorted now. cheers guys

glad it's sorted. I ended up grinding mine of, then the heat from grinding got the metal red hot and i just had to give it a sharpish tug with some moleys and it popped out.
