Quick one here.  Is the bonnet prop supposed to be straight or curved. I have a 1990 Rover Mini that had a straight one, ordered a new one and it has a curve in it. It fits ok, just curious. Thanks

I am sure the older round nose Minis had straight props and they changed them to curved. Not sure if the latch on the inner wing is in the same place or if it got moved.

Has anyone fitted a pneumatic one?  Like the sort of thing that holds open a hatchback boot lid?

The bonnet is so flimsy that I suspect a strut would cause it to fold in half.Just my thoughts based on reinforcing the fold when it has bulged or split in the past.Steve..

I've seen gas struts fitted on a number of projects and planning to fit to mine as well.  Plus I've made some hinges that open slightly further so the struts will also act as a limiter to stop it hitting the wipers

but as mentioned above it will need some strengthening added and will be opening and closing quite carefully for sure

On my 1990 Cooper, my bonnet prop is straight with a small bend at the bottom

Yep..! Came in a kit with hinges that allow the bonnet to flip right up.
